Practical Services is a local, family-run grounds maintenance and landscaping business, established in Northumberland in 2002. We deliver planned and responsive services for housing associations, commercial clients, communities and private customers.

We are passionate about nature and the positive impact well-maintained outdoor spaces can have on people’s lives. We recruit and source locally wherever practical. Neil and Lydia also established The Nurture Project CIC, a separate community organisation reflecting their commitment to local people, nature and opportunity.

Communications

Effective communications: client and customer relations are of the utmost importance to us, continually developing positive relationships with the communities we serve. Accessible 24 hours: our emergency call-out service allows customers access to our reactive service provisions when required.

 

Health & Safety

The health and safety of our staff, residents, customers and the public is our first priority. Our work is supported by trained teams, task-specific risk assessments and method statements, pre-use equipment checks, competent supervision and clear reporting and escalation.

 

Environmental Sustainability

At Practical Landscapes we are passionate about nature, the environment, and protecting our future generations through sustainable and eco-friendly working procedures. Our staff are engaged in a range of environmentally friendly practices to promote our environmental policy.

 

We invest in sustainability and are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our work while improving the places we maintain. We are increasing the use of battery-powered equipment, using peat-free materials, managing green waste responsibly and reducing reliance on unnecessary chemicals. We regularly review our objectives as we improve our fleet, equipment and working practices.
